Nuclear scintigraphy is a great diagnostic tool to assess gastric emptying time because you can assess the passage of food-bound to the radionuclide rather than relying on the motility of fluid (barium - used in radiography). This is great for true motility disorders, especially if there will be a significant difference in fluids vs. solid motility.
